Are the new Pokémon games being casualised to hell?

I tried to play Ultra Sun but holy shit the begining is fucking annoying.
"Let me take you to the Poké center and talk for an hour about how it works!"
"I'm annoying talking Pokédex and I'm gonna tell you when you see a Pokémon for a first time!" - how is this shit important? You can see if you already caught a certain Pokémon since gen 2.

USUM are simultaneously really casualised (handholding, etc) and surprisingly brutal (totems, Ultra Necrozma, every major boss having max IVs and plenty of EVs, random Veterans that are pretty strong). It's weird. XY has more things like level design but yet many things just roll over and die, especially gym leaders, to the point where most Battle Belts provide more of a challenge.

I always forget you can do that in all fairness as I don't use Refresh. It doesn't really matter though - you have so much money and Antidotes are dirt cheap even early on that it doesn't matter as much as it otherwise would.

Not necessarily. In earlier games there was at least minimal problem solving in those games. For example Kanto's Victory Road had several light puzzles involving using Strength to move the boulders onto the buttons. They weren't difficult but there was more going on than nothing at all. Which is what you get with Alola's Victory Road.

Another example is the excuses of why you're gated off from later areas. In Celadon you're gated from Fuscia because a wild Snorlax decided to take a nap on the path leading there. The only way to get past the Snorlax is to get the Pokeflute, which Mr. Fuji explains can wake up sleeping Pokemon. But Mr. Fuji isn't available because Team Rocket is holding him hostage. The reasoning behind you being locked out from later areas make sense and lets you put the pieces together on what to do. If the game tells you "a sleeping Pokemon is in the way" and you get a flute that wakes up sleeping Pokemon then what should you do? And as a bonus the Pokeflute can wake up YOUR Pokemon in battle which is great attention to detail. None of this exists in USUM. You can't get past Diglett Cave for no other reason Olivia really REALLY wants you to wants you to meet Mallow and Lana. You can't get to the second hotel because some asshole won't move his dog and tells you to come back later. And you can't get past Wela Volcano early because there's a literal gate you can't get past until you pass Kiawe's trial.

Anon I know you don't have actual engagement with other human beings but even technology has advanced to the point where even kids themselves control it without any aid whatsoever. They're smarter than before, if anything they're lazy and that's not the kind of people RPGs should be made for.

As a side the main campaign of Pokemon would be much MUCH better if trainers actually switched their Pokemon and didn't revolve so heavily around monotype teams. Because moves like Pursuit are almost useless in the main campaign since the point of Pursuit is trapping Pokemon that don't want to eat a SE Dark type move. Flash Fire is an ability that has zero point in the main game since not only do only Fire types have it AND the AI isn't likely to use a Fire type move on a Fire type, but the bonus you get from it is wasted on other Fire types. You may as well use almost anything else.

gotta have the same tutorials every gen, or Timmy age 9, just starting the franchise will be lost.

That said, they could make them skippable, as well as do better about making them not a pain.

The tutorials and handholding are doubly annoying because they act like Pokemon hasn't been around for 20 years. ORAS has a Pokemon catching tutorial 2 routes away from the starting town. By that point you could've caught several Pokemon already.

I been playing Pokemon since I was very young I started with Red. Idk how old I was hard to imagine me being 4-5 years old, but I know I was still very young. I don't even think Gold/Silver was out at the time, maybe Yellow was.

Anyway, I basically got the games in order: Red, Blue, Yellow, Silver, Gold, Crystal. In that exact order. I knew how to fucking save (If I had my mom teach me what the word meant) or I knew it myself, I played the damn game. On Red Version I beat the Elite 4 so much that my Hall of Fame Glitched when I checked it on the PC. I played as a kid, these fuckers today can too.

Only thing I know I messed up on was on Crystal I somehow released my starter and my strongest Pokemon was a Pidgeot.

And the drunk old man in Viridian City actually did teach me how to catch pokemon. I thought you could knock them out before catching them like Ash did in the anime.

That's all the direction I think the games really need for complete noobs. How to catch pokemon and how to save the game. The rest should just be on Trainer Tips signs.
