Does anyone here know actual kids who've played gen 7? Because these games actually have some mild challenge even for vets. I can't imagine my 10 year old self ever getting through Ultra Necrozma for example.

The games are easier than ever if you have Exp share on or if you do what I did at 6 and only use my starter to brute force the game. You can make them challenging, sure. But that's what makes pokemon what it is. You can generally play it how you like.

No you would've beat Ultra Necrozma. you might've been frustrated at first but then you'd look it up online or in a magazine or something and find out its AI is too dumb to fight Zoroark and just cheese it to death like when you played Zelda 64 and had too look up that you beat Dark Link by cheesing him to death with the hammer because he can't copy that.

I'm pretty sure the newest pokemon games have been significantly easier than the older ones even with the fact that I've gotten older with them.

i agree USUM are the hardest game since bw2 and probably on par with the kanto (i would say johto too but johto is only difficult cause of shit game design) but when i was a kid i had so much time to do shit my starter was lv 80 before i beat the game. so im sure with the exp share on by default when you get it it would actually be kind of easier for kids who just run around fighting wild pokemon not knowing how to progress like i did as a wee lad

Have a half-brother aged 8. He seems to alternate between breezing through sections of the game in Ultra Sun and getting really stuck on others (usually totems). I remember him mentioning that Totem Araquanid screwed him over because half his team was weak to Water, so he ended up grinding a full team of things that helped counter it (Flaaffy, Pikachu, Trumbeak, etc.) and then ditched most of them again to make a new team for Totem Marowak. Compare that to X, in which he's completely stomping everything without having to put any thought or effort into what he's doing.
So yeah, the newer games are probably harder for kids in some regards, but they'll find a way to push on anyway.

kanto wasn't hard, it was just that you had to grind if you wanted to level up, so I ended up facing the e4's level 60s with my level 40s

Every sliver of difficulty in Kanto comes form that shit design. And even then they were piss easy as your foes weren't much better off than yourself. It's just that battles last forever.

My Little brother managed to get through UNecrozma by giving the Sash given to you in Poni to his Drifblim and then paralyzing it. It took him a lot to come up with strat. He cried a few time because of desperation tho. I'm Happy with what he accomplished because for the First fucking time he didn't just level his starter to lvl 90 and do the League with that. Very nice desu
