I got a question for you /vp/. I haven't played Pokemon since Gen 2 and want to start getting into the series again. Where would be the best place to start, should I start Gen 1 and work my way up or do I just go straight for the new Gen. Also what's the best game out of the series that is universally liked around here. It looks like I missed a lot since the early days of this game. Last thing... is the anime still worth watching?

if you have nostalgia for gen 2 and don't wanna spend tons on a 3ds for the newer games but don't wanna wade through the sea of fakes and dry batteried cartridges the best place to start with an eye to carry on playing through the gens up to the present would be heart gold and soul silver then if you enjoy that follow in the order of platinum black or white 1 the same colour but 2 for story reasons x or y omega ruby or alpha sapphire and then ultra sun or ultra moon. regular sun and moon are just USUM w/out extra stuff same with diamond and pearl to platinum. this way you progress in a logical order where you never get used to a feature that then is removed but also you don't have to play every game and the only region you miss is kanto but frlg/rbyg are imo the weakest in the series and you get to go to a much more content complete version of kanto in hgss so you really don't miss out on anything

Ultra Sun or Moon have enough gen 1 dick sucking for you to feel at home again and they're the best way to start a collection. Platinum, Heart Gold/Soul Silver , and Black/White 2 are considered the best games. No to the anime unless your mind hasn't grown since TOS as it's aimed exclusively at kids.

The mainline goes as follow: green/red/blue/yellow, silver/gold/crystal, ruby/sapphire/emerald, diamond/pearl/platinum, black/white, black 2/white 2, x/y, Moon/sun/ultra moon/ultra sun

You got several choices, anon. But i suggest getting emulators to emulate the first five generations.

>Visualboy advance for Pokemon red/blue/yellow, silver/gold/crystal, firered/Leafgreen, pokemon mystery dungeon red, ruby/sapphire/Emerald (Emerald being the third version)
>Project64 for Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2, also with the right plugin you can connect your red/blue/yellow and silver/gold/crystal files
>Dolphin to play Pokemon Colossus and Pokemon Gale of Darkness, not sure if you can cross your saves with Pokemon r/s/e
>Desmume for Diamond/Pearl/Platinum(Platinum is the third version), Heart Gold/Soul Silver, pokemon mystery dungeon blue (same thing as red), pokemon mystery dungeon time/darkness/Sky (Sky being the third version), Black/White, Black/White 2 (Sequel to Black/White), Pokemon Ranger series

For X/Y, Sun/Moon, Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby, Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, you can pickup Citra if your PC can handle it, but otherwise you can get yourself a New 3DS and comfy it up.

There's two ways you can play the mainline to get the most of it

>Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Platinum, Black/white, Black 2/White 2, x/y, Ultra Moon/Ultra Sun
>Firered/Leafgreen, Heart Gold/Soul Silver, Emeral, Platinum, Black/white, Black 2/White 2, X/Y, Ultra Moon/Ultra Sun

Firered and Heart Gold are both remaster that adds plenty of shit to gen 1 and 2. HG/SS itself has your pokemon in the lead follow you and they actually fixed the gimped out Kanto. Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby removes plenty of features from Emerald so you can skip it unless you want to play ruby/sapphire with better graphics. Ultra Moon and Ultra sun are just better version of Moon and Sun

Just emulate drastic instead, Desmume is so bad that emulating a good emulator will give you better performance.
