Pokemon trainer but with rowlet, dartrix AND decidueye! all three of them! all playable as one character instead of having one standalone character or a pokemon trainer with all the starters! just 3 different sized owls!

how do you react?

This would be great. But I hope that instead of sacrificing a moveslot to change Pokemon, that a taunt is used instead so they can all have a full moveset.

No Gen 7 mon will be in Smash 5. It'll be a Gen 8 mon.

Smash is coming out this year, while Pokemon most likely won't be released until 2019.

i wanna say i hope so but i really dont. gen 7 has good designs with a lot of personality imo and i dont have high hopes for gen 8. im the minority that likes gen 7 so maybe i shouldnt talk but i think gen 8 is gonna be gen 6 levels of garbage

But to answer the OP, I'd laugh at Barafags. They may dismiss Pokken, but being in Smash is the biggest honor to a pokemon. Lucario probably owes a ton of its lasting popularity to being in Smash, same goes for Greninja. It reaches way more people than what the anime or movies do nowadays. Decidueye would officially eclipse Baracat for eternity.

sakurai would probably put whichever he likes more though since theyre close in popularity and that's what he did for greninja (though greninja wasnt even revealed yet, it was Sakurais favorite of the starters and he thought it would be cool in smash)

and if he likes greninja then id assume his favorite gen 7 starter is decidueye desu
