What if in an alternate reality, Gen 5 had actually been the most commercially and critically well recieved Pokemon games, and were a massive hit with fans all over? How different do you think Gen 6 and 7 would be? How do you think the Pokemon franchise as a whole would be by this point?

Would have said that Gen 6 might have gone the Johto route and been a sequel, but BW2 already had that, so possibly a lot of pandering? Like instead of getting Kanto starters from Sycamore we'd get the Unova starters that Mega evolve. Gen 7 would be similar in the pandering notion, like Sun being from Unova and all that. We might've also gotten pokedexes filled with at least 75% new Pokemon, or like in Hoenn's case, over a 100 brand new mons with a good balance of old mixed in.

Well I suppose that would have meant they were actually good games in that alternate reality which would have been really cool if it had happened in this reality. Also, fags wouldn't complain about Gen 6 and Gen 7 to take the heat off of the massive fuck-ups that occurred in Gen 5, so that's another way in which your proposed alternate reality would be preferable. A critically acclaimed Gen 5 would of course mean no stupid fucking ice cream Pokémon, and a generally more well-planned Pokédex in general, and the developers would have never realized that that they could sell stupid concepts like ice cream to idiots like the Gen 5 fans in our reality, so they probably would have put more effort into Gens 6 and 7. OP, you actually may be onto something.
