>>35108983Kind of a moot point. Nintendo still would've had 2 big releases that year, just on separate consoles. It's not unprecedented for them to have multiple large releases in one year either. MK8 and Smash 4 both came out in 2014, Mario Sunshine, Metroid Prime and Windwaker all came out in 2002, and Mario Kart Wii and SSBB came out the same year as eachother as well. Those are some of the highest selling games on their respective consoles.
Also, the Switch is doing great but so far it's banking on games that people in their late teen's to early 30's will enjoy playing. Not that BOTW and Odyssey don't appeal to kids, but those franchises target demographic has shifted. They need something to grab kids more than they already have, and LABO + Pokemon is a pretty solid double whammy in that regard.
