Recently, for example, I go back and forth on calling characters in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 by their English and Japanese names.
That's because I played in English and am around mostly English writers when talking about it but I had it set to the Japanese voices rather than the garbage English/Welsh/whatever ones. Thus I'm prone to calling them the Japanese names off the top of my head, even when writing in response to someone using the English names.
Especially where the English ones make no fucking sense in comparison. Hana (flower) = Poppi (a specific type of flower for some reason)? Fuck off. The name Hannah exists in English so there was no excuse not to use that.
But the point is, you don't have to think Japanese culture as a whole is better than your own (AKA what weeb actually means, dipshit) to simply mix up names.
