I know Nintendo wants to get back on the movie scene, but why with an adaptation of a bizzaro spin-off game that only made it to America because of some confusing Danny DeVito meme? Also, I’m pretty sure it could just be an anime like all the other movies. Besides, it wouldn’t be the FIRST time we got a Pokémon movie based on a spin-off game. Cough Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea cough.

Detective Pikachu already has an established setting and premise. It's very difficult to fuck up.

A Pokemon movie based on the main games or anime would very easy to fuck up.

You mean Alex Hirsch and Nicole Perlman? Alex got locked out of the final script and James Gunn wrote most of GOTG, so we don’t know how good Nicole is at writing solo.
