What does Gender Unknown mean? Does it mean that scientists just didn't feel like checking if they have the parts or is it that the sex organs are too alien to tell what is what?

Ultra Beasts are plentiful, but they're from timelines where completely different evolutionary environments occured. If they did have a gender, it would take earth-levels of historical research and experiments to even figure it out. Also, they can't breed.

Inanimate objects don't have a gender because they are not biological creatures. Some CAN breed, but only with Ditto.

Gender is not determined by only what does and doesn't look masculine or feminine. This answer all of your questions and concerns, Anon?

Not to mention, Solgaleo and Lunala "breed" in some sense, and have even been referred to as male and female in the Pokémon games. However, they're still listed as gender unknown. Perhaps that their methods of reproduction are so foreign that they don't follow our current sense of gender.

Ultra beasts, well. They are not your ussual pokemon, probably have a completly different genetical structure and their bodies work in a way we humans dont understand. I doubt they actually fug, it must be something mystical, or incredibly gross.

Anon, Solgaleo and Lunala don't breed whatsoever. The pokedex says they are THOUGHT to be the male and female evolutions, but every instance of mentions and even the gameplay doesn't support this. While it's neat lore, it doesn't make what I said incorrect.

Genderless means a Ditto couldn't figure out how to fuck it. Male/female pokemon biographs are determined by whether or not your ditto morphs into something capable of penetrating the subject in order to successfully breed it.

Cmon, normal fugging isnt even that bad. Some beetles inject semen on the female and it has to rearrange its guts as an uterus begins to form in wherever the male injected it. Or any parasite like possible way that make the host rot as the creature developes inside them slowly killing them.

If the anime's to be trusted, and it might not be, then Solgaleo and Lunala reproduce by fusing the light each of then emits. Pretty alien, and it makes it hard to define a male and a female (since both emit and none receives).

As for legendary pokemon, I've always assumed they do have genders, but we're not able to breed them in the first place so it kinda doesn't matter. I guess it kinda matters for attract-type moves, but at the same time I'm cool with legendary pokemon being immune to that.

Basically, Zapdos probably has a penis but Rotom likely doesn't.

We don't even know what the fuck happens (in the games). The camera just pans, they probably just magically conjure up Cosmog.

It means that the gender of that pokémon cannot be defined. For that the legendaries, mythical and ubs are undefined because they're too rare to find and study. The ubs are a recent discovery in the pokémon world (even if it seems that they went to Alola in the past, but in that age people didn't have the tools and knowledge for studing them), so even if there are a lot of them in their world, in our world doesn't even exist.

This doesn't mean that they can't breed, but we don't know how it works. There are some examples in the pokémon anime of a baby Lugia and multiple Shaymin. Solgaleo and Lunala is confirmed and showed both in the anime and in the game that they can "generate" cosmog.
