Pokemon as they're currently designed are fine and don't need to be changed in the main series. The farthest acceptable departure would be the realistic textures from Pokken.
Changing the overall aesthetics for the series for no reason is pointless.

The way to do "realistic pokemon" right is just giving them a proper texture. Rearranging the shape into some bastardized IRL organism just makes them look even more implausible and difformed.
