What is realistically going to be the Gen 7 Pokemon Rep for smash bros?

Are they really going to stick with starters? This is assuming Charizard is coming back and not be put back with Pokemon trainer since 3DS limitations isn’t a thing

The 3DS might have caused transformation characters to be cut, but there's no real reason to bring them back. Zelda, ZSS, and Charizard benefited from split off.

I don't want to be realistic because that's boring.

Maybe we'll get a gen 7 pokemon and a gen 8 one. I want them to pass on the gen 7 starters and put in Mimikyu and then put whatever pokemon GF has decided to push from the gen 8 games.

If there's any Gen 7 rep it'll be a fully evolved starter or Mimikyu. Otherwise there might not be a Gen 7 rep at all, they'll probably do what they did with Greninja and design a Pokemon specifically to be in the next Smash Bros.

It's possible. Both Decidueye and Incineroar would work, Primarina is a bit of a stretch. Funnily enough Zeraora would also work for this purpose, though I doubt they'd put another Electric Pokemon in.

It would be cool if we got a unique Pokémon rep, similar to how bizarre Pokémon Trainer was alongside Gen rep because that will always happen

The real question is whether Greninja is staying or not. Pikachu, Jigglypuff and Lucario are going to stay no question

Greninja is probably staying because sakurai doesn't like cutting characters. I honestly don't think anyone's getting cut unless there's legal issues with a 3rd party character. I also think ice climbers are coming back

So far, no unique first party characters have been removed unless they were clones or 3DS limitations

Mimikyu seems more like a poke ball to me. I don't think his ability would translate well into a playable character. I think gen 8 is most likely

It's going to be a starter, one of the Lycanroc, Silvally, or a UB. It might not be a Gen 8 Pokemon because the timing won't line up if Gen 8 comes out after SSB5.

Gen 8 will be released within the next 18 months and Smash will be released within the next 9. It's definitely not too early.

Honestly the main reason I'd prefer decidueye over incineroar is that we have a fire type starter and a dark type starter in smash already, and it'd be nice to have a full triangle with greninja.
having said that, the grass starter should've been sceptile

Yes it is. If Sakurai wanted to choose to choose something like a fully evolved starter in Gen 8 it would end up being a spoiler before the game is even fucking out. Greninja worked because XY came out a year before SSB4.
