XY was pretty good, BW was also nice, I've heard that not many people liked ORAS but I did, BW2 and SM are still unfinished with the former being pretty bad and the later being meh but enjoyable.

The original illustrator Mato left (or died idr). The manga is now illustrated by Satoshi Yamamoto, the one who made this artbook. His style is shit compared to Mato.

To be honest, ORAS isn't a fair comparision either. That one was made for an online release in a rush, Yamamoto didn't have finalized designs for Archie and Maxie in mind and even entire panels were done by his assistant

Archie and Maxie looked beautiful (and obviously drawn by Yamamoto) when they were about to return to the disortion world

Venusaur design is so weird that even his own designer Ken Sugimori can't draw it well.

My first comment was about Venusaur but Yamamoto fans jumped on the matter and made it manga-scale argument.

I loved Venusaur in this manga. It looked best in here. But that Yamamoto ruined his rendition to something shit-Sugimori-tier.

The reason why I hate Shitimori is that he always makes Venusaur looks ugly af while other artists do much better than him. Worst thing? he's proud of himself being shit at drawing his own creation.
