monotypes are fun too. so is using pokemon only in that region (which has to be the case if youre playing kanto or BW)
other than that idk. i make up rules on the fly and never really set them up beforehand. like if im following a walkthrough (which i usually only do so i know which pokemon are on each route) ill look at the next gym leaders team and go "okay, i wont get my pokemon above that level" yknow?
i used to only ever use teams with no repeating types but i gave up on that cause ive done it so much.
also if youre playing gen 6 or 7 do NOT use exp share. it makes it so much more enjoyable, to me at least.
