when i played blue the first time i chose charmander and when i first played red i chose squirtle, backwards i know. but my first pokemon game before those 2 as a child was yellow so i had pikachu and the only one of the gift starters i got was bulbasaur so i used that in yellow too

i literally used all of them as a kid

Squirtle first, dunno why cos I was obsessed with dragons. I can still hear the hydro pump sound so clearly in my head. Now I alternate bulbasaur and charmander.

I was a kid, so I picked the fucking dragon. Of course, he wasn't a dragon until later due to a lesser mega, but Charmander will always be the first starter I got. I always pick it too, even though it made the start of the game harder.

Got blue, picked Squirtle. I always liked Squirtle over Charmander and Ash had one that was a gang leader. I always choose squirtle when these three show up. Its unfortunate my boy got shafted in the Mega department

Charmander just seemed edgy to me

Squirtle would have been my second pick.. He just missed out because i thought water as a typing seemed bland
