So a thread for literally every pokemon?

basically 99% of pokemon either seem like they should be human size but are really like 3 microns tall or seem like they should be towering omnipotent kaiju monsters but are actually smaller than a small child, and then the last 1% are pokemon that are just randomly enormous.

It's almost more worth discussing the pokemon that actually fall in line with how big you actually expect them to be.

nah, looking at a list most of them are pretty alright. first stages are either super tiny or between 1-2 feet, single stages and third stages are 5-8 feet as appropriate. the absurdly tiny kaiju or bizarrely big ones are aberrations.

Exacdrill's BW sprite looks bigger than the species actually is - Excadrill is a manlet, yet still demolishes things much bigger than it. Kommo-o also has manlet problems, being just 5'3 in a generation where half of the new Pokemon introduced are either massive or tiny.

Crabominable surprised me with how big it is. It's not the biggest out there, but it's pretty fucking big compared to most crabs.

Joltik is larger than even the largest tick species but is the size of some jumping spiders.

I didn’t believe you so I did some research.

Midday is a little over two feet. Canines are measured in height at the shoulders, so that doesn’t include its full length. A gray wolf and most mid size dogs have a shoulder height between 2 and 3 feet. In other words, it’s small but not chihuahua small.

For the record, Dusk and Midnight are both 3 feet. It’s weird because I don’t know if midnight is measured the same way, bc it’s bipedal?

I don't know, I don't think it's outside of possibility, figures I've found put 4 10 as average for that age and a couple of inches higher isn't much of a stretch for a protagonist

This is correct, which is why it's classified in the Pokedex as the "Float Whale" Pokemon. Considering its size, weight, and density it would float, or at the very least bounce.

Mudsdale sticks out like a sore thumb when it comes to weight as all large pokemon are woefully under weight while Mudsdale is the actual weight of a Clydesdale horse making Mudsdale heavier than the 16 foot tall steel building that is Stakataka

Length would make the most sense when measuring an animal like that, maybe wingspan even (though with a 5'7'' wingspan or length it'd be really tiny). My guess is that he's measured to the shoulder like you do with horses because measuring to the top of the head and the ground would be a pain in the ass and differs a lot of the time because of his long neck and that explains why he's so much bigger than the pokedex says as well.

It's also cannon that Ash's Charizard is smaller than average.

The sixth movie made me think Groudon was fucking massive, but he's not even five meters tall. Heck, most of the beast-like legendaries (Kyogre, Reshiram/Zekrom, Palkia and Dialga) are all much bigger in my head than they are in their actual statistics, and then there's Aggron or Charizard. Only Onix and a few others like Rayquaza actually feel like they're around the right size.
