gen 3 and gen 4 have the best spin-offs on the series.

i think gen 3 wins, ranger 1 and mystery dungeon 1 are the best

Shadows of Almia is better even if its easier. It's not like anybody plays these games for the "challenge" anyway. And every other aspect is improved.

One of the best vs. threads I've seen. I miss both gen 3 and 4 seasons because the spinoffs were of good quality and even connected to the main series games and hinted at future games.

But if I were to choose I'd say gen 4 because I feel like that was the biggest time of pokemania coming back for me personally.

The first one's capture mechanic was bullshit. Late-game bosses required ABSOLUTELY PERFECT timing in order to catch them.

You ever try S Ranking all the captures in Almia? Some of them gave me about as much trouble. Also you only have one chance with the partner fights.

The 3DS mystery dungeons were so tepid on release, I almost don't want to taint alola mons with even more mediocre games. What happened? Why did the jump to 3D kill so much ... what's the word ... excitement? Pokemon games now are so bland and safe they actively invite contempt, or worse, complete apathy.

Maybe. but I never made it that far into either games. The worst thing any form of entertainment can do is be boring. and if a game takes that long to get good? it can fuck off for disrespecting my time. I have better things to do than to mash A through gradeschool tier dialogue just to get to the compelling aspects of a game (that only seem that way because Pokemon fans have low standards)
