>>35166744>thinking that I do any of this to label myself as a hipsterIt's okay anon, I understand how it feels to be completely inferior as player in comparison to myself. Smogon players have the tendency to to use very stale and typical sets that anyone with half a braincell can easily predict. Changing a move or item here and there won't cut it.
By creating a niche for your sets, you are able to not only unpredictable for your opponent, but able to diverse yourself for any situation that you're met with. It does not prepare me for "one or two situations", I make sure that my unique sets cover a magnitude of potential matchups.
Flexibility and coverage mean jackshit if you're just going to run a movepool that your opponent can counter by literally just switching out to a resistant typing. I've seen it time and time again, people make the mistake of running coverage that you already know is missing as stab from team previews. Unless you have coverage that is completely unexpected, it's just a shitty excuse to trying and "outplaying" your opponent.
Thanks for the comment though, it does serve as a reminder for how clueless and basic you Smogon players typically are. But don't worry, you can learn a thing or two from my videos, they're just a click away from being watched, lol.
