>>35164314I don't think Emerald is the best pokemon game (I'd say is HGSS or BW2), but it's up there as oneof the best.
I could explain why the pokedex is good providing examples and explaining them (like the cover legendaries which are top tier). I could talk about Hoenn introducing overworld variety to the franchise, about how the compositor managed to create an iconic and memorable OST despise the limitations of the soundfount (which says a lot), and about the fantastic pace of the map and how well facilitated the backtracking was. I would say all of that while still acknowledging the flaws (which no game is free of) RSE had: mainly the absolute lack of pokemon variety in the water routes, the drop of the night cycle, and the lack of pokemon compatibility with previous entries.
Problem is OP, that this would take several posts of walltext to put together, and you have already shown in this thread that you're an assblasted orasfag who is ignoring any arguments in favor of Emerald. It's just not worth it to waste such a walltext on a blatant bait thread.
So I'm just going to say 2 things:
1- The original tracks were designed with a limited soundfount in mind. When you take something that was attuned to work within such limitations and remake it with a modern soundfount, the result can wildly vary in quality. Which is exactly what happened in ORAS; mos of the tracks are "bloated" with varied instruments and no clear dominants, making their main melodies hard to catch over the hubbub.
2- The chibi 3D fucked the sense of scale of the region, while the overworld assets suffer from obvious GF's laziness in half of the routes, making everything seem empty beyond the "walkable" borders.
The map and the music were some of the best parts RSE had; the fact that ORAS failed to deliver in those two specific points is enough to put it below the originals to anyone who played them at the time and liked them.
ORAS isn't bad, it's just that RSE was an overall better experience.
