What do you guys think of the 3D Pokemon games like Colosseum and Gale of Darkness?

How would you feel if a pokemon game in this style was gonna come out on the switch?

I haven't played them yet, but I think I will - doubles should make for a nice change of pace. Also I'm a scrub who plays on Switch mode so they might be harder than usual for me.
The Pokémon selection looks a bit ropey though.

That's part of what makes it interesting, especially in the small selection in Colosseum.

I always personally go for Quilava in the beginning of the game. Be sure to look up the poke ball glitch in Colosseum to save yourself some balls.

Favorite spin-off games and I replay both at least a couple times a year.

Colo:
>one of, if not the best, protags in the series
>some of the best music in the series
>mature/darker story without being too edgy
>models are good, some better than today's
>awesome attack/Pokemon animations
>Shadow Pokemon are a cool/done well
>game is generally difficult
>AI has actual strategy in double battles
>double battles

I could go on and on. XD is mostly the same, but with some decent wild Pokemon and more Shadow Pokemon, it's also more difficult IMO. Shame they got rid of the Under, though. The fact that the in-game reason makes sense doesn't make up for it.

I've got a bitching idea for a sequel to XD, shame I can't pitch it to Game Freak or Genius or whoever.

They were a fun break, but they can get repetitive quick though especially if the whole reason you are playing these games is to fill out pokedex pages in RSE.

If a game came out in that style on Switch . . .

It'd be okay.
Nothing fantastic, just okay.
It would be refreshing, but not amazing.

I actually lost the first time against the last boss because back then Skill Swap on Truant was legal and the Slaking+Slowbro Skill Swap combo destroyed me.

These are among my favorite pokemon games and catapult gen 3 into my favorite gen if they're included. Even better, I think there's untapped potential for a third game if they refine the shadow pokemon mechanics more and tweak the atmosphere a bit. But let me just say...

These games' battles are even slower than gen 4(my least favorite gen). Even though I like what these games show me in that slow time more than what gen 4 does, it does kinda diminish the legitimacy of that complaint aside from stuff like "saving a lot of data..."

But I digress, I don't want to start a genwar in here.

Good taste anons. I like Gale of Darkness more than a lot of the mainline game. I have the special edition GameCube version of it. It was the first console I bought with my own money. They were different enough from the main games to feel unique and fresh, but similar enough to feel like they belong in the same world as the other regions. I hope we get a third Orre game sometime, or at least HD versions for the Switch.

As long as TPC doesn't interfere in the development (or is minimal) and it's not made by the passionless fucks at gamefreak, we might actually get a good pokemon game for once. Would be awesome if we got one every 3-4 years with actual effort and passion put into it.
