First when they were revealed, Froakiefags went by "Broakie" and acted mostly chill. Fennekinfags were the most quiet when it came to shitflinging because they knew they'd be called out and completely roasted as furfags if they even tried to attack the other two. Chespinfags however, were the most aggressive, always calling out and bashing the other starters.
Then once the midstages were revealed, you would not believe the absolute radio silence from Chespinfags that day when they saw Quilladin, there were almost absolutely no Chespin/Quilladin threads in sight that day other than extreme mockery and the few who actually liked Quilladin (read literally one thread for those few).
Meanwhile Froakiefags and Fennekinfags were pretty much rejoicing over Frogadier and Braixen.
Later came the Greninja, Delphox, and Hawlucha everyone thought they were shit fakes and thought it was stupid that Greninja would lose its foamy scarf upon evolution and how pointy it looked. The rage against Delphox was pretty self-explanatory, and many people didn't even want to evolve their Braixen. I'm not actually sure if Chesnaught leaked, though.
To the end there was that guy, Josh or something, who get X/Y before street dates and /vp/ religiously followed him on Twitter as he kept taking fucking smoke breaks. I don't even think he got to the 1st gym before the games came out anyway.
Looking back on it, Gen 6's starter wars were basically a calm ocean compared to the absolute shitstorm that was Gen 7's.
