Easier to hack. Gen III maps and stuff were cracked a long time ago, while the future gens aren't nearly as customizable

Because FireRed is the most hacked base game and the most resources, tools and tutorials exist for it, therefore no one wants to leave the Gen 3 Bubble because that'd require them to put EFFORT into a new base game, especially since Gen 4 onward is either semi-3D or fully 3D.

This left scene could look nice were the rock barrier erased and the cliffs shaded into the sand texture/replaced with something like pic related. If you could run around the Pillar, and the sea washed up against the land properly instead of appearing to flow underneath it the scene would be really gorgeous. The tiles for the Pillar itself are superb.

Also another reason Gen III looks so good (when it does) is running at 60 frames constantly. Gen 4 runs at a little less and gen 5 is pretty janky. Playing emerald for example is satisfying for the clear translation of input to movement. The run animation is really smooth and quick, and I feel as though the game is trying not to fuck me around.

Her emerald sprite is better, and the head is large in the perspective of the camera. If you displayed the player in proper proportions you would not have enough space in the sprite to draw a discernible face and they would not feel properly like a person, at least not one of any importance.

I wouldn't call half the frame rate a little less. It runs at 30fps at max, gen five does the same but switches to 60 during battles (technically it's 59 point something but who cares).

The worst part is that raising the frame rate cap to 60 in gen 4 actually fixes the slow text and animations, but makes the big maps drop frames like crazy. It seems like they designed the game for the higher frame rate and had to change it at the last minute.

it's still a nice curiosity. It adds some content that HG did not, if I recall correctly it makes all pokemon available, some content is changed or reinterpreted - it's still p fun in my opinion.
