Theres no way on planet earth USUM took a years worth of dev time so I feel like development on the switch game has been ongoing since at least midway through 2016 when Sun and Moon were done and not right after USUM in 2017. You're a retard, only reason we got Kanto was Iwata developed a new compression algorithm which allowed Game Freak to put it in the game. They know exactly the size of storage they're working with now, but what matters more is the coding environment, which for the first time in their history is both more akin to working with the PC's they're familiar with and not a potato masquerading as a games console. I have the utmost respect for what they were able to do within the restrains enforced on them. But I'm waiting to see how they handle not having to sacrifice their vision due to the hardware's limitations, before writing them off as awful developers.

The reason we got Kanto is because they planned to have in the game from the start and they hired someone to fix the issues with implementing it. The Iwata shit is an overblown meme that people keep exaggerating.

Have people forgot the jr. staff were the ones working on USUM? When they were done with those games, they joined the senior staff on what they were working on. This clearly means all of the experience staff at GF have been working on the switch game for some time now.

When games like monster hunter can be revealed, have an open beta and then get released in six months time theres no reason pokemon can't. Every gen since five have been two to three years apart. USUM was obviously a quick cash grab and it's not like any of you have any idea how much time GF has spent working on the Switch titles. My point is making a game in just a few years and making it good at that is absolutely possible. But no one here has any confidence in GF, which isn't entirely unfounded.

Because games get released in between? Gen 5 had BW2 and Gen 6 had ORAS. Gen 7 has USUM, if they came out at E3 and announced a fall release date for Gen 8 that would be two years. Let's not rule out 2018 because "B-but if they release it NOW it'll be shit They need more time!" Time is not a good indicator for the quality of a game released. Just to throw out some examples, it took a few months to piece together GTA Vice City and that game is still critically acclaimed to this day. Smash Bros Melee took a little over a year and people are still clinging to it like tail paper stuck to their ass hairs.

Id be happy for personal reasons.
I bet im not the only One, but every year i go through the same "cycle" :
During Summer and Winter i dont even think about playing the games. During midseasons though i feel the hype again and almost become obsessed. I dont know why, maybe It has something to do with the fact i used to play outdoor with my friends during the "Pokémania" era
