They're poison secretions, I guess (the designs are a collaboration and I'm the artist). It has the consistency of jello cubes and they jiggle. They used to be bubbles, but cubes work better with the evolution. You could probably power wash it off, but you'd end up with a very unhappy lizard.

In terms of the anatomy it's based on 4-winged dragons or wyverns. The way I drew it erect now kinda makes it resemble Necrozma, whoops

It's meant to represent hope so I made it a bit more bird-like because a frequent symbolism for hope is the white dove (I guess you could also argue it's a bit based on the common representation of the Holy Spirit). It's meant to have another form where it's white and the markings become flames.

I would change the color scheme, for sure. It looks a little generic with those colors. Maybe swap the orange for teal and add some white highlights.
And I would make the front pair of wings work like arms so it can get down on all fours and crawl, like the dragons in Reign of Fire. That will make it look more dynamic.

I'm up for changing the color palette, but I feel the teal wouldn't really fit its typing.

I think I will revamp how the wings work. I kinda like the Reign of Fire idea, though with Pokemon's aesthetic I feel like maybe Cloudjumper from HTTYD 2 would be a better reference.

Kynim seems kind of up her own butt a lot of the time, but I do appreciate the attention to detail on this one. Most people that try to depict the original dragon make it look like a clumsy fusion of the three rather than their precursor. This has design elements from all the dragons but unifies them in a way such that it has its own identity.

Well, abilities are usually there to substitute for a lack of a third type. Doing that with a monotype is really weird - especially when you have something with wings ending up being weak to Earthquake.

Pokes like Koffing/Weezing got away with it because they aren't 'flying' so much as floating

Vahirom is probably my favorite fan rendition of the original dragon, just from how much effort went into making it its own thing in terms of both stats and design, like >>35190562 said. The artist made a much more dynamic drawing of it later on as well, which is what completely sold me on its appearance.

Cool, but i'll never understand why many Fakemon artists feel the need for everything to have three stages. Outside of some gimmick mons and "staple" mons like starters,some early route bird/bug mons(but never early route mammals, so far which is interesting) and pseudos, the majority of official Pokemon that evolve evolve only once.

In terms of fan games, it could be used for balancing.
In fan art, it would just be emulating the games. Or, maybe in some cases, an artist deciding that the design is best showcased in three steps.
