If you take the average distance between release and announcement of the last three Pokemon games, you'll get an average discrepancy of 209 days. If the Pokemon Switch games are released on the third Friday of November, which they always are, then the games will be announced around April 20, 2018.

Oh, and before some wisenheimer comes in and tries to complain that I didn't count X and Y, it's because they came out in October. But if I DID count them, the average discreprancy would go up to 226 days, meaning they'd be announced on April 4, 2018.

Announcing a new generation just 7 months before release seems unlikely to me. Unless they're remakes, I guess.

If you add in the discreprancies for Black and White and Black 2 and White 2 they're set to be announced in May, with that release date.

XY = 9 months between announcement & release
SM = 9 months
ORAS = 6 1/2 months
USUM = 5 months

There's an obvious discrepancy between the beginning of a new gen and 3rd versions/remakes. At this point it's more likely gen 8 games will be released early next year.
