I did 1 during SM but it was hard, even in non-pokemon related forums sometimes people would post new pokemon and shit
2 and 3 are basically the same since GF fucking spoils literally everything through trailers

For gen 8 i think i'll just spoil myself, even going blind on gen 7 i didn't quite enjoy it

2nd one, I keep the story and game structure a secret but I like to know what Pokemon I'm dealing with so I can plan a team.

Examples: Phanpy line in Gens 2 and 4 got no Ground moves until EQ in Kanto, Crabrawler doesn't evolve until you reach the very end, you CAN have Dragalge on your team in Omega Ruby before the E4

Game freak has revealed most the Pokemon before release for both gen 6 and 7. I payed through gen 3 and gen 4 having only seen the starters and whichever Pokemon had debuted in the anime, and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Whether you see a pokemon for the first time in a random encounter, a leak or an official trailer doesn't change much of the experience.
Aside from the story and maybe some key encounters (such as Ultra Necrozma or delta episode Deoxys) there isn't much that is badly affected by spoilers.
