That's the kind of puzzle setup I'd expect from Breath of the Wild. So there is potential for similar things in the Switch game, but that's entirely dependent on what kind of game it is.
Map-based puzzles like boulders and ice have been used so often because of how the games work. For the most part, you're limited to pressing A to interact with something and using the directional buttons to move, so deeper puzzles with multiple solutions just weren't feasible. I'm not saying it couldn't be done, especially if Game Freak bothered to expand beyond the extremely limited scope of what passes for gameplay in a traditional Pokemon game. But it would require a much more robust team of developers than Game Freak currently has access to.
