The only reason why people even found out about is because some Pokemon had consumable items before the fight that were mysteriously gone all of a sudden as well as some Pokemon suddenly being a level higher than they were a second ago because they leveled up in the first fight.
They completely tried to sweep it under the rug for a few days, but eventually the shitstorm got so bad that they released a stupid apology video that showed the wipe and also said that they're not gonna count the loss because of some retarded reason.
