- I Personally think that Game Freak has used the turn based battle system for too long, and the reason is because a lot of players don't understand that GAME FREAK could make more with pokemon. Why not make it real time battle in a huge battle field, with the catching experience? It would make you connect more with your pokemon, and it would feel like your actually inside the anime fighting with your pokemon!! That's just me, and you?

I'd try it, but I don't think that the turn based battle style is bad. I don't want to practice battling like in Street fighter or Dark Souls to be good in Pokemon. For real time battles they can make games like Pokken.

Also, they need to break continuity with the the handheld games. It just doesn't make sense for players to be able to keep to trading forward all their pokemon and legendaries, and really just skip a large part of the gameplay.

They should have a more interactive multiplayer portion. Maybe each area could be a small server instance with 4 players running around. You can ask to battle each other, or simply just ignore each other.

Also, the ability to play side by side with a friend would be cool. Maybe even being able to do all battles as co-op battles.

I agree my only issue is the animations for 800 pokemon. But if they can do it then good for them. If not then maybe they'd spilt the Pokemon between two games or something.

They shouldn't make bank available after the Elite Four, not after you get the Pokedex. But I don't think that they should remove that ability, because why would you have to catch everything again? I'd be upset if my efforts for a living Pokedex would be in vain.

The reason autists don't want a Pokemon MMO is because they know they would not be good at it since most MMO's require at least a little bit of grinding and it would be incredibly hard for them to cheat their shiny waifumons, also they are most likely afraid of other people and don't want social interaction even on a videogame

I would love a more Pokemon action RPG spinoff, but starring Pokemon themselves, no trainers. But I like turn-based Pokemon battles, though I wouldn't mind if they changed it up significantly, like rehauling moves or adding a defend/protect battle command. They do need to make the battles look better visually, and optimize the ways turn-based can be visually superior to action, like perfecting the camera angles and animations.

I doubt they would change it out of the blue, they would probably try and experiment with a new battle system as a side game in the main games( like sky battles or inverse battle but something with more depth to it) or launch a spin off game where they experiment with a new battle system.

This is the worst part. Pokemon games feel like they're trying to be more like an anime, and in turn they've been less fun (for me at least), I wouldn't want to lose the more traditional elements for the game to be more anime. I think keeping turn based is important, but just changing the overworld style of encounters would benefit it a lot.

Keep it turn-based.

Add a Tactics element. Make Pokemon positioning (ie Dodge) a battle option in addition to Attack/Item/Pkmn/Run, (meaning it's dodge or attack, not both) and have move Accuracy replaced by an Area-of-Effect.

Smaller, weaker mons (as well as those appropriate to have one, like Flying types, or Water types on water routes) would have a wider Dodge radius, but certain types (Grass for example, since it could utilize the environment) would have a higher ratio of large AOE moves to compensate.

Since accuracy is no longer a dice roll, it becomes a viable tactic. Minimize would decrease a Pokemon's actual hitbox (making it harder to hit), and Double Team could create actual illusory doubles on the field that the opposing player has to deduce from.

This also balances out certain types and certain mons with less useful moves or more weaknesses, as they might be better at Dodging or better at AOE.
