one of the best pokemon so far, go for Heracross, Espeon, Lanturn, Steelix... pretty much any poke you want, just be careful because you can easily get underleveled by the last gym, so I recommend you not to fill your team before going to kanto, 4 pokémon max

As the first pokemon game I played sine my hiatus during Gen 3, it was an absolute blast to play through. But coming back to it now, the lack of a few features from later gens will be noticeable (imo it still has the best bottom screen menu to date).
It has a couple bumpy moments like the infamous level curve, but great everywhere else.

As for pokemon, Sudowoodo is surprisingly good. It gets a lot of grear coverage like Hammer Arm, Sucker Punch, and Wood Hammer. The last one being especially good if it has Rock Head.

The game has a retarded level curve after the 7th badge. You'll be hurting for levels against Clair and E4.

The speed of the user interface and battle animations are noticeably sluggish though. While not nearly as bad as Diamond and Pearl, it could be annoying if you're used to something faster.
