I'll go by the more vivid colours in:

The issue is made worse by their traditional starter hues being low saturation and being the secondary colours. Both of the colour pallettes appear dulled and the medium saturation of the snake is not enough to balance them out.
That's what I mean by two similar. I know the tapir is blue and giraffe is green. I know the dominant colours are not literally the same colour but they different hues with with extremely similar saturation and lightness settings. They are displaying different colours in the same way and their visual impact is too similar because of it.
