Why are Pokémon fans so stupid? Is it because they never play games from other franchises so they're ignorant about modern video game standards?

Fair point on most of those, should've been more specific. The 3DS is usually fine with patches and small content updates, but typically doesn't take well to major content updates in my experience, and cart users might not suffer as badly as digital users. Bigger game updates like Welcome Amiibo for AC and Treasure Trove for Shovel Knight don't always show up on the eShop's update section, and when installed they don't always install correctly, either. USUM's additions would definitely fit into this category by virtue of the new Pokémon models alone.

You'd be surprised how many fans replay the games over and over again. They don't care about quality content, as long as it will last them long, they'll worship every skinner box crap that gets put in these games.

This. Funny that nobody replied to this. If that were Pokemon, they'd give us the new maps, same story mode, and tack on the new story mode at the end and sell it as a full priced new game and people would take it as such because the new story at the end.

im not defending pokemon rereleasing basically the same game for full price, but so many more games do that than you realize. even games WITH updates and dlc STILL have definitive/deluxe editions and day one versions that become outclassed by some other version release a year later. and sometimes its even MORE restricted than what gamefreak does because the shitty first release version might be on ps3/xbox360 and the definitive version on ps4/xbox1, while only giving you full access to online features and new content if you have the definitive version.

sure gamefreaks system is a fucking sham but its a transparent sham. you pay $40, you pay $40 again. other shitty games have you pay the $60, update it constantly, buy dlc in smaller increments that can add up to more than $40, then buy the definitive edition which will have its own bunch of exclusivity and even dlc maybe.

splatoon (or even just most of what nintendos doing) is GOOD dlc/updates. a lot of its free and if it's not then its a lot of content for a good price. i dont play playstation anymore and no one i used to play with does anymore either so i cant speak for super recent releases it was a fucking mess. also lootboxes

Usually these actually have a good reason to be made though. TLOU Remastered, Mario Kart Deluxe, and Pokken Deluxe got rereleased because a new console came out and they needed to release ports. Sonic Mania Plus is coming out because they have to rerelease the game to put out physical copies anyway. Pokemon just does "lol here's a new slightly better rehashed version of the game" merely a fucking year later when DLC would have sufficed.
