You guys are missing something crucial. Would you want no story and no characters? Would you just be fine going to the professor and getting your starter, then going through a linear path to beat some fodder trainers you won't remember, reaching the next town that just consists of a pokemon center and gym, then you go through some crappy puzzle and more fodder trainers till you reach the gym leader, beat them, get the badge, then repeat 7 more times until you reach the elite four, which is just 5 more trainers you beat back to back. Does that really sound fun to you?
