You would only want to run Liquid Voice with Hyper Voice in Doubles, because it won't hit your ally. But that's really the only scenario. If you want to hit through Subs in Singles, run Sparkling Aria.

It gets STAB though. That's the whole point of the ability. What it doesn't get is the additional 1.2x bonus like the -ate moves.

But they weren't afterthoughts they are newly created abilities that are thematically appropriate to the pokemon that they are exclusive to, Intimidate is an appropriate ability for Incineroar but it seems odd that it didn't get an exclusive ability even though it was probably better off not getting one given the other two abilities.

They are really cool abilities in concept and flavor wise but come on, how do they make sense?
Decidueye's signature move doesn't make contact by default and Primarina's signature attack is a water type sound move already. It feels like they didn't really think about how the abilities would synergize with their moves at all.

Decidueye's ability makes sense since it is a ghost and an archer and Primarina's works since it has traits of a mermaid, siren, preformer and its ability to make those water bubbles by singing. Conceptually they make sense but balance wise they are not that useful, then again GF has seemed to be uninterested or incompetent at balance.

There definitely is favoritism when it comes to starters, but gens like 2,4 and 5 show that it doesn’t always happen, it doesn’t seem to be based of popularity all the time, it’s just whenever GF and TPC really like something.

Long Reach should just triple Decidueye's damage output. That would make for an unique but powerful pokemon who can easily one hit kill the majority of the metagame if he can hit them first.
