I trained one up in Ruby because I wanted to use its arena trap to make catching Latios easier, and I didn't know until then that Trapinch actually evolved into something since I didn't know it was related to Flygon at all. It sure as fuck doesn't look like they're related.

In FRLG they were 1% encounter rates in an area with another letter that's 99%, which on top of being kind of obscure (like Unown O is 1% too, but you're gonna know to look for the letter O) means you'd just never find them without knowing they're there.

DPPt and HGSS made them common, but had to be unlocked first, and all Unowns are equally common in ORAS.

Quagsire, Heracross, Politoed, and Slowking

I encountered a ton of Heracrosses while headbutting trees back in my GS days and they'd always flee from me. I had a temporary tattoo of a Quagsire from a Wonder Ball, and Politoed & Slowking were two trade evolutions that I really wanted on my team but I could never find a Kings Rock.
