"better" is subjective, so if you mean significantly different from what we're used to, GameFreak needs an influx of fresh talent to open up possibilities on where the game can go. At the very least, I think the idea that Pokemon can't compete against mobile, and so ORAS didn't need a Battle Frontier, is toxic pessimism that needs to be washed out.
But there's a risk. You probably shouldn't let stupid fanboys make a Pokemon game. Or else, you get a Fate/Grand Order and ruins a franchise beyond salvation.

I get that but they're kinda shit anyway. Steelix is even weaker to Water than his Fire Pokemon and the other two are a nuisance at best. It's an interesting strategy but I wouldn't really say it works particularly well.

It's not so much the Sinnoh elite 4, but the fact that DP had probably the worst fucking regional dex in any of the games, and whoever was putting the dex together apparently didn't communicate with whoever was deciding what the type specialists should be.

Gen 1 is really oversaturated with Poison-types in general.
There are 66 Poison-type Pokemon now. Do you know how many of those were introduced in Gen 1? 33.
Gen 1 has as many Poison-type mons as all other gens combined. And all of them were weak to Psychic, making it even more broken.

Kanto Pokmon and Johto Pokemon are really same shit, just 2 gen introduced a few that were REALLY rare or lived only in Johto. Kantomon are ones that Red and Blue have found before E4

Gen 5 is interesting because its the only generation that can stand on its own 150, creating its own meta, which also resulted in really interesting concepts.

Except people still clearly loved the first gen Pokemon when Gen II came out; they were meant to appear alongside the Gen I Pokemon, not replace them. The heightened rarities were intended to make finding the new Pokemon more of a challenge, since "catching them all" was the whole point of the game besides beating the champion.

They needed to give Charmander trainers some hope of progressing. Gen 3 and 4 evened it out with Fire/Fighting starters so they could reasonably add Rock-type moves to their Pokemon.

Exactly. Instead of giving gen 2 Mon time to shine that took the back seat to gen 1 when they were fine as it is. They didn't have much focus in the anime either which was the main method if showing people what species there were during the early Internet days it also didn't help that the anime then was often in filler hell.

You're staging this as a problem, when it simply isn't. This isn't a Gen 3/5 scenario where the new dex was meant to replace the old one soft-reboot style. Really don't see where the anime comes into play at all, especially when half the Gen II mons were being shown off before Gen II even came out.

At least Pryce and Claire have a gen 2 pokemon. With Whitney they are the only leaders with gen 2 pokemon on their team, less than half.
That's been fixed either since gen 3 or 4 with all the leaders having at least a pokemon of said gen.
