Why do people latch onto 'Ash hasn't aged' and act like it's the most hilarious shit?

What's New, Mystery Inc, Be Cool, etc are all reboots. It's kind of unfair to complain about them never aging if it's a completely new universe.

I think the main problem with Ash is that he's not in a media where "un-aging beings" are welcome, or at least, something people are used to.
The reason why characters from american cartoons, comic books and others never get any flack for it is mainly due to most of those characters being far older than most of the people that know them. I mean, how many people here lived before Homer Simpson, Spider-Man or even Mickey Mouse were created?
Japanese anime doesn't have those benefits, and before anybody brings this up, Sazae-san isn't as well-known as Pokémon is, and for the matter being, I don't think Ash is older than most Pokémon fans at this point.

the odd thing about ash is that it's clearly the same character. he hasn't been rebooted or anything, all the experiences he's had before and all the friends he made before are still canon. it's impossible in the real world for someone to do as many things as ash has and not have a full year pass. that being said, the anime obviously has a different idea of how time progresses. the character changes and progresses but his age doesn't. it's fine by me since ash still remains the age of the target demographic but retains the knowledge and skills he's learned over the many episodes. it's just a case of having to realize that it's an anime and it's not going to follow real life logic

I mean, it's clear that he aged from the start of Dragon Ball to the end of it. Also, all the characters have aged, regardless of if you can see it in the art or not. Everybody in the show ages.

First of all, Goku clearly ages after Dragonball physically. Second of all, Usagi also clearly ages. And third of all, the other examples you listed usually don't stick to a set continuity, and instead play loosely with it, unlike Ash, who follows a rigid continuity, while not aging. Also, the journey format of Pokemon lends itself more to a rigid continuity, which they do not respect.

Ash will have to age sooner or later. In the first movie they said that a year had passed since his journey began (not canon but still valid) and in black and white, he had to wait 6 months (3 months?) for the Pokemon league to start. Now he's in school where it can be assumed that most episodes start after a new day.

To be fair, I wouldn't be surprised if only like 8 years have passed in Dragon Ball Z, considering shit like the Namek arc takes place in 1 day or some shit

I'm not really a huge fan, but I'd feel like that's much better than Ash who if you consider that most episodes go on for 1 day, he should have entered puberty

I think people like to pick on ash specificly is because chatacters from long running series that became popular at the same time as pokemon have had time skips or have ended already.

Yugioh had GX
Yet pokemon still has ash, who they still say is 10 dispite them saying time has passed since x event all the time and has a veryvsyrong continuity unlike other shows where time doesnt really matter.

You act like Scooby Doo has one canon, when it has several different series that are separate from one another. They're different continuities, and a lot of them actually fiddle with the idea of being a sequel series to the original, with them growing older, going to college, getting jobs, etc. End of Dragonball Goku and End of Dragonball Z Goku do look a bit different, and his age does change. The rest of the anime you listed does have a character that has either aged, just not noticeably. Conan should've obviously aged and is your only good example. Big Bird's character is simply a huge child, not to mention Sesame Street isn't really episodic, with only a few episodes like birthday stuff and that one where the old dude dies really being part of any "timeline" it might have.

Fuck off dumb Ashposter, he's been 10 since Kanto, and the series has not changed that number. Years have gone by, and he hasn't aged. If the show decided to say that he was 12 or 13, this wouldn't even be as big of a problem.

B.) Gohan has consistently been alive the entire series. Goku's been dead like 10 of the years the story covers. Gohan was a kid at the end of the Cell saga and then in high school when Goku returned for a day for Buu and eventually got brought back fully.

Also, Goku started as a motherfucking kid, dipshit. Almost everybody who are adults in the main series were much younger originally; Goku, Krillin, Chichi, Bulma, etc. And even the younger ones besides Gohan have progressed. We first saw Trunks as a baby for fuck sake.

Time is never implied to move a lot in the Mario games. The events of most games could have literally taken place in just a few days. The lact of holidays portrayed in-game also helps, so after Yoshi's Island you can imagine all other games are taking place whitin the same 1 or 2 years.

There are also alternate timelines. RPG Mario doesn't reference platformer Mario as far as I know and vice-versa.

Meanwhile Sazae-san, Ranma and Conan keep progressing and keep having holiday specials like The Simpsons.

It'd be fine if every time ash went to a new region its treated as if this is his first adventure and that the previous region is no longer canon, but Ash refers back to times he traveled with other people and had other teams in other regions. Ash spend a lot of time traveling, amount of time he wanders should make him age noticeably. They should make him age a 1 year per region or two, this way he would age and still be a child for show purposes.

But anyway, isn't this show full of bullshit? Kid carrying a literal army of dangerous monsters in his fanny pack. Police officers do not have pokemons so powerfull like 10 yeras old kid. I think Ash's immortality is one of minor problems with this franchise XD
