You either didn't watch Eva or you aren't into Eva if you think Kaworu doesn't know anything of sex or gender or whatever. He's literally the eros and was wrote to be a shoujo character. He's also called Shinji's same-sex love interest for decades and it's one of the most popular romance characters. Also you greatly miss the point of Eva and Devilman and similar works with Kaworu clones about how ultimately humans and angels are still people and the same entities with the same origins. Not to mention all the sex metaphors with angels and their rituals seen in EoE, they are highly sexual creatures. Any Eva fan has awarness of this since the 90s.
N even has a mysterious origin to top his character. In-universe nobody knows when or where he was born, his real parents, how old is he and is rumored to have been born from a pokémon. Masuda also explained this on his blog. You can't even give me here the argument "he doesn't get it because he's a pokemon" because lore of pokemon states they are highly intelligent and empathetic creatures and that once long ago human and pokemon were pretty much the same and people used to marry pokemon.
Just say you aren't familiar with the archetype neither the works they were born from at all and just want to argue for the sake of arguing.
