And while it is important for distinct traits to be recognized between older and younger characters (large forehead, big eyes= young; wrinkles, smaller eyes= old) in cartoons, it's kind of different for a creature design in a video game.
Try and compare the snout of every fox pokemon with eevee. Vulpix line, Zorua line, Fennekin line, and to an extent, the Abra line all share the same long pointy snout that Eevee does not have.
