>>35274249 What I want to know is where do Ultra Beasts fit in? If Arceus didn't create them then other creator gods exist out there too.

>>35274281 >What I want to know is where do Ultra Beasts fit in? Nowhere, they're just ordinary Pokemon in their homeworlds. They aren't legendaries.

>>35274291 He didn't say they were legendaries just that they're Pokemon not created by arceus. The ultra world presumably has it's own arceus

>>35274249 Shinto, the main religion of Japan believes everything can has a spirit and there are a ton of deities.
It's only natural that the world of pokemon has a ton of deities too.

>>35274474 okay, but arceus and giratina are based on judeo-christian mythology, and the hoenn trio is based on jewish kaballah mythology.
their power varies GREATLY from traditional shinto deities.

>>35274540 3 and 5 had legendaries in line with 1 and 2 in that they were just powerful.
4, 6 and 7 fucked up by making them Gods, masters of life and death and multiverse travellers.

>>35274612 >3 and 5 had legendaries in line with 1 and 2 in that they were just powerful Totally wrong in regards to Gen 3, the distinction between the level of power we see from Ho-oh and Lugia and the level of power we see from Groudon and Kyogre is like night and day. Ho-oh and Lugia are venerated but their power comes in the forms of myths about them, it isn't tangible. Groudon and Kyogre are quite literally god-like beings, their very presence in battle alters the world around them. Gen V took a lot out of this by giving mundane Pokemon the same abilities but at the time it was very distinct. Gen 5's aren't as god-like but they're just kind of silly, trying to make legendaries out of intangible concepts doesn't really work.
>4, 6 and 7 fucked up by making them Gods, masters of life and death and multiverse travellers You're right about 4 but totally wrong about 6 and 7. Xerneas and Yveltal aren't "masters of life and death", they just represent life and death in regards to the ecosystem. Their powers are much more subdued than something like Groudon and Kyogre's. They also form a neat little duo on their own, balancing each other out rather than just representing two separate things. Even though it seems like Yveltal is the "evil" one the fact remains that Xerneas is just as dangerous; within an ecosystem an overabundance of life can be just as dangerous as an overabundance of death.
As for Gen 7 nothing is wrong with Solgaleo and Lunala being multiverse travelers, they're Ultra Beasts.

>>35274688 I don't know, just from their designs you can see the inspiration pretty well. Reshiram is the naturalistic, traditionally designed Dragon suiting its role as representative of the Hero of Truth, one who sees and accepts the world and what it is.
Zekrom, on the other hand, is more mechanical and modern in its design, showing the crux of Ideals to be shaping the world to one's outlook even if it can be at odds with objective reality. A nice little nod to that is shown in how Zekrom's irises aren't the same color as its sclera like Reshiram's, showing the break.
