Mime Jr. fits right in with other Fairy types, so that's probably why. Mime Jr. fits the bill for the Fairy type, so Mr. Mime also gets it.

Because it's whimsical and creepy. I'm pretty sure they're going for an old-school fairytale vibe with the fairy type and it fits right in. Also it's pink.
