>>35289633You are my brother of good taste. How do you feel about Emboar? Personally I love it because while it looks like Ganon (another reason for me to like it), its dex entries make it out to be this big noble hero who sticks up for the weak. Plus holy shit, it lights its fists on fire by dipping them into its own fire beard.
>>35289666You're right on the money in saying that gen 4's starters are based, but I highly disagree with the notion that gen 7 is anywhere near close. I can't change your mind, but I can at least present you with a little anecdote.
I was on Team Rowlet from the very beginning, hoped every day that "Owl3" was real when it was first leaked, and rejoiced when it not only turned out to be true, but surprisingly became a ghost type. Decidueye was shaping up to be one of my favorite starters of all time, design wise. So then naturally I picked it as my Sun starter, and boy oh boy did it underperform. In my personal experiences, even Meganium was good in-game, but not Decidueye. It never outsped anything and almost always got one- or two-shotted, its worthwhile attacking moves were few and far between, and neither of its attack stats were even high enough to have a significant impact. Golisopod, Minior, Mimikyu, and A-Ninetales were all consistently MVP-tier, with Kommo-o being underwhelming but still having its moments, but Decidueye just constantly disappointed every time it came out of the Pokeball. It even ate shit against Hapu, where it should have had an easy edge. Over time I started realizing how goofy the proportions of its body, head, and wings were, and every bit of passion I originally felt about it was replaced with disappointment.
False flaggers may just want to start shit, but this particular Anon has a much deeper reason to hold a real and sincere disapproval for this bird. Never before has a starter's stat spread been so bafflingly unsuited to its respective design, and all-around terrible to attempt to use.
