>>35301484Yeah, because Kalos and Alola were so perfect and ingenious that I'm totally hyped for a new gen and I can't wait to see it...
Except not. The Pokemon games have went on such a road, that at this point Gen 8 is pretty much guaranteed to be shit. A new shitty and half-assed region with ~100 shitty new Digimons, shitty and annoying innovations, even more casualization and handholding. We all know that it's gonna happen.
So, yeah, I do want a return to Kanto. But definitely not a remake. It would be stupid at this point, to see the same fuckin' story for the third time. I wouldn't outrule a Sinnoh remake, but definitely not a Kanto one. That'd be a fuckin' mistake.
But a brand-new Kanto-based game sounds like something that could (ironically) bring freshness to the franchise. Return to some of the old good solutions, but keep the new ones where they work. Make plot progressions that pushes the classic lore even further (but without retcons and plotholes). That sounds like a good opportunity to test out some new mechanics for the next gen, as well as a kind of fresh start, a "separation" - so that the Gen 8 continue from the good Kanto games and not shitty USUM.
tl;dr. Kanto - yes, remake - no.
