So i was considering all the criticism that Sun and Moon get not Ultra Sun and Moon but the basic games i would like to know EVERYTHING that people dislike about the games so i can think about it and also apply my own criticism onto that

It can be anything from a little to a big thing here are examples that you will probably mention but do it anyways so i have confirmation

- Lillies 22 pages of Dialogue
- Unskipable cutscenes
- No Post game

and so on but please repeat these and go in detail if you want i just want to learn a bit more what people dislike

“Start to skip scene” would make everything else so much tolerable. Something so simple that didn’t happen is completely absurd. Also Island Scan could’ve just been a post game thing in general. No need to force people to use something that could be done so much easier

I’m still triggered about Alola Marowak’s Shadow Bone issue.

nah just a anon who REALLY likes the games and especially Lillie and Sun which is why i may or may not ship them really hard and they slowly made it into my favorite game so i just want to punch myself in the stomach and face some criticizm

Sorry if you dislike my thread its just i hear things people don't like about the game but i'd like it gathered where i can compile it so i have a list of do's and don't's and also so i can man the fuck up instead of saying that my "favorite game" is without criticism

The cutscenes and the reason you can't skip them is padding. without them it would be the shortest game in the series since it is about 16~ and 8+ are cutscenes

X/Y through US/UM are some of the worst optimized games I've played on 3DS. I could let X/Y slide because they just made the jump, but from then on GF didn't even bother try keeping a stable framerate. God forbid you let your battle screen idle long enough for the camera to start dancing around, because you'll be seeing a damn slideshow.

Cutscenes of course, Alola mons are very uncommon making the later islands bland since past region mons are more common, not much exploration either or dungeons for that matter , Z moves aren't very creatively used since most are wall breaking moves or set up sweep moves, and in some cases both (Z Kommo-o) it needs things like Z tailwind (boosts crits as well as speed) to make it more diverse and inventive

Frame rate issues in double battles or when ever a mon is statused it suddenly lags and drops frames which is super irritating

I hate everything about Lillie. I hate that the story revolves around her. I hate that she constantly interrupts throughout the game. I hate that she's popular which means we'll most likely get another character like her in a future game. I hate that people settle for such a shitty character as long as its a little girl they can masturbate to.

She disgusted me so much that I sold my copy of the game as soon as I was finished with it because I had no interest in experiencing Lillie's story ever again. I was able to play through X a second time and even enjoyed it when the "friends" weren't butting in. I was irritated by them. Little did I know a character much worse was on the way.

I would say the story itself is fine infact it gives us a nice cast of characters and plays around with them in some interesting ways, such as previous kahunas as the e4 so it doesn't let past characters fade away like previous generations gym leaders would (with the exception of gen 5) however the presentation and pacing is lacking, as repeated before too many cutscenes, mostly caused by and for Lillie, makes it a slog at times to get through, and takes away screen time from other characters,(I forgot hau existed until he showed up before the e4) if instead they made Lillie follow behind you like the girl from colosseum and just said dialogue as you progress it would probably still be annoying but less so because atleast in theory it doesn't interupt gameplay, I think Lillie is the Ashley graham of Pokemon, she's annoying but after awhile it almost becomes charming and desu I kinda missed her when she left after lusamine's defeat (still got irritated when she came back though to drag another cutscene for tapu koko)

PERSONALLY i played most of the game in 1 day where i was "sick" in bed at my school and when i was finishing the game it hit close to home and i began to see how adorable it was that Lillie actually loved Sun yes she only likes Moon as a friend thats why we have special dialogue like in previous games and so i began to just really like THAT version of her and hated the other 3 versions of her since and whenever i play the game through again... i just can't it really just hit too hard and i don't want to go through those sad moments when you realise that she isnt coming back it end with a happy ending of her promising to come back to her Friends and the people/person she cares about the most

ON THE OTHER HAND i totally see how people hate her and i can respect it in a lot of ways since well she does kind of fill up the dialogue though i don't feel the same i can see how some people would be bothered by it and she has a lot of cutscenes the story revolves around her in a lot of ways and its annoying that she ended up becoming a HUGE income for pokemons later games even though she wasent advertised for in the original game like she shouldnt have and yeah FUCK all versions of her except the Sun and Moon versions

hope you can see how/why i feel the way i do about her and can somewhat respect it

On top of the obvious shit people will rail on, Alola in general feels like we got sold two different sets of 2/3rds of a game. Ultra had some of SM's missing pieces and cut out others.
Lillie OR Hau gets their character arcs and development.
Looker and Anabel give you post-game focus on the UBs and the lore around the fallers and this concept of a Pokemon Interpol, OR you have the Ultra Recon Squad who tie into it more directly across the story and explain how ultra balls actually exist.
Lusamine's this actually twisted and Ragyo-esque villain who's so high off neurotoxins she's willing to merge with a space jellyfish OR her entire motives are based on some hero complex around her husband being lost to UBs.
You get the big establishing shot of Mt. Lanakila and this build up about the league being built OR you get the interactive nature of Mantine surfing making Alola feel more connected than just 4 remote islands.
You get to seek out the Captain Trial fights and get to learn more about their home lives and a sense of Alolan culture OR Mina has a trial.
You get the satisfying climax of fighting the professor for the first time in Pokemon with the remix of the series theme feeling like YOUR theme OR you fight Hau as the champion fight and close out his arc and rivalry.

To sum things up its the Dragonball GT of Pokemon. Everyone including the player is pretty much sidelined in favour of Lillie.

Megas weren't without their flaws in Gen 6, but they were way more interesting and viable then the new super moves. I beat the whole fucking game and I don't even remember what they called them. X-moves? Z-moves? Whatever

Oh, and please note I don't have a raging hateboner for Gen 7 like 90% of this board. In fact I liked it.
Allow me to list my thoughts:

What pissed me off even more was Lillie literally being the same in USUM, I was expecting her to actually battle you and open up to battles much earlier than what she did.

The biggest issues with Sun and Moon are nothing new to the franchise; emphasis on a terrible, dialogue-heavy story and a bare-bones, no exploration, lazily thrown together, hyperlinear overworld has been a part of these games ever since Black and White. The difference is that unlike Gen 5 (and to a lesser degree 6) these games are too new to have a nostalgiafag fanbase that needlessly sucks their dick; we'll have to wait a couple years before the hate dies down and alolasomes(?) start shitting up every thread on the board.
The other big issue with Gen 7 is a bit more recent to the series but still nothing new; it makes no attempt to innovate or improve the multiplayer system put in place in XY (the only reason most adults still play these games) and in fact is an active downgrade from XY in that regard (ORAS was guilty of this too). The Battle Agency was a good idea but the execution was terrible; while an online Battle Frontier would certainly be an incredible way to resuscitate these games they chose the worst facility of all and shat it up with countless bad design choices.

In Gen 7's favor, though, it did do a good job with the new Pokemon (for the most part; there were too many furries for my tastes but that's subjective). Re-imagining old Pokemon without turning them into ugly expies or overpowered super saiyans was a great way to breathe new life into some old favorites. The new Pokemon themselves also had a lot of effort put into them, which I like. You'll notice that every Gen 7 line has its own unique move or ability; I'll take 72 new Pokemon that have their own unique niche or playstyle over 156 instances of dexbloat filler any day of the week.

Outside of the new Pokemon, though, Gen 7 was fucking trash and I don't have high hopes for the switch game.
