Why does Gamefreak keep making event only mons that are just handed straight to you? Makes it all seem pointless. It would be way better if there was some kind of ingame side quest featuring a new area, trainer battles, some kind of new plot thread, and a battle to capture the event mon at the end.

The new Zoroark.

Lucario became popular because it was an early-mon, really easy to get, but unlike most early-mon, it's broken Steel/fighting typing back in Gen 4 and stats allowed it to stay strong and kick asses during the whole game.
Lucario was made to be popular.

Zoraork and Zeraora are both way harder to get, especially Zeraora because it's a mythical.
It's just a matter of time before Zeraora is forgotten, unless the guys get shilled by GF and become a new Smash rep or shit like that.

Doubt he'll be popular. Especially seeing he shows up right when everyone wants to move onto Gen 8 already.
Even among furries, the lack of a tail will make him unappealing in the long run. Gamefreak should have known this by now, seeing how Lycanroc Dusk is so far the only successful Lucario clone.

Lucario was relatively easy to get in-game, wasn't a shitmon, and its movie was actually good. This is why Lucario was so much of a success.

We'll be lucky if Zeraora can get one of those things.

The same thing happened with Zoroark, and it looks like they can't learn from their mistakes.

By the way, since they can't learn from mistakes, expect them to keep failing at making Lucario clones forever, since you need some sort of capability to learn from mistakes to succeed at this, and they don't have it.

Making it a legendary was a mistake, limiting its availability was a mistake, not including it in game was a mistake. Not giving it a prevo was a mistake.
Unless prominent in the next game it'll just sit as this wierd appendage to gen 7.
