There's this urban legend in Québec that the Passenger Pigeon, a now exctinct bird, was hunted so much to make meat pies that they disappeared. While it's true they were used for meat pies, it's not the cause of their exctinctions. So maybe have a Passenger Pigeon as the Regional bird and mention that it's popular in meat pies.
