My biggest issue is ones that can REALLY confuse you

Examples:

It's truly retarded to complain like this since many of these 'translations' are already loosely translated martial arts terms. Yes, it looks more literal if you look it up on Bulbapedia but actually you're just defining things with a more complex meaning. That's why translators translate the way they do.

Focus Energy's name could be called 'Kiai Improvement' since it comes from martial arts, but the kids would probably not get it. Just calling it 'fighting spirit' is worse than what we got since that's not purely what 'kiai' stands for ('kiai' also includes a scream, normally).

Similarly, False Swipe isn't called 'Strike with the back of sword' in Japanese. It's called みねうち (峰打ち, 'Mineuchi'). The first two syllables belong to that first character and can mean many different things, but in this specific case they're referring to a martial arts term.

Aerial Ace's Jap name (つばめがえし, 'Tsubamegaeshi') actually comes from swordfighting. In particular, it's the name of the legendary technique of the swordsman Kojiro Sasaki, who could supposedly cut down a swallow mid-flight. That's why it appears in the movesets of both bird Pokémon and Pokémon associated with cutting, such as Aegislash. That's also why it appears in many other video games under the same name, such as Final Fantasy, Etrian Odyssey and Fate/Stay Night.
