Hoenn best, comfiest, most adventurous region. I do want to qualify this by saying Johto has some great flavor to it, but the terrible gameplay that descends from its horrible layout and weak Pokedex drops its ranking steeply.

I doubt anything will ever be worse than Sinnoh though. Fuck gen 4.

Oh god. I won't question your Sinnoh placement since you're clearly a madman, but do explain why Kalos is so high. Virtually every town barring the snowy one looked exactly the same. Hell, that extends to the routes themselves. Kalos didn't look ugly, instead it looked too clean. Every place was neat and perfect and samey with extradonarily heavy asset reuse of grass, bush, and flowers. Coming off of Gen 5 where each town had its own identity visually (and musically!!) and routes could be affected by seasons and shit, Kalos was a devstating drop in quality.

There really hasn't been a region like that so it gives you idea on what kind of people are there and what places you can find. It all feels like royalty. The castle areas in particular are interesting to me because not only do I like how clean the region is but also there never has been castles before in Pokemon (except for N's Castle but that's kind of a different case). They might be forgettable in the long run but they have nice details that are easy to miss. The later areas do get boring after a while, I'll admit that, but there's still some very pretty places even then, especially the stretch between Route 14 and Dendimille Town.

I can see why people would dislike it, and I do feel like it's sometimes linear. But yeah, I'm kind of a bit of a madman when it comes to taste in regions

- Unova (seasons and lore give the region as a whole a huge push)
Highlights: Icirrus City, Dragonspiral Tower, Abyssal Ruins

- Hoenn (I love tropical places and there is a lot of interesting places to visit)
Highlights: Lavarridge Town, Sootopolis City, Route 120

- Sinnoh (I really like the melancholic vibe of the region)
Highlights: Eterna Forest, Eterna City, Snowpoint City

- Kalos (I love the aesthetic of the region)
Highlights: Snowbelle City, Anistar City, Lumiose City

- Johto (Comfy autumn)
Highlights: Ecruteak City, Olivine City, Lake of Rage

- Alola (Could be a nice place for a vacation)
Highlights: Malie City, Exeggutor Island, Mount Lanakila

- Kanto (Not a bad region, but I am tired of it)
Highlights: Seafoam Islands, Celadon City, Saffron City

This is based on their objective qualities, unique places etc, but most of the thread here seems to be autists picking the gen they started with first then the farther from it the higher so I guess I should have picked Kanto to fit in with the nostalgiakids.

Unova is pretty linear but is loaded with dungeons and secrets in each route that make it a joy to explore. Hoenn is a lot of fun to explore as well and has the best secrets. Sinnoh is tedious to traverse but the varied climates and ecosystems and rough terrain name the wilderness areas super comfy. Johto is pretty bare but has a great aesthetic and atmosphere. Kanto is boring, but the nonlinear bits have actually aged pretty well and I wish we got more like it. Kalos is completely forgettable. Alola is dogshit.

I know Orre is kind of a stretch but I loved all the areas. Alola is the only region I actually dislike, the rest all have their charms

Alola, Kalos and Unova are the best looking, ahve the most stuff to do and see, and are the most comfy and fun. Kanto is comfy in the remakes, Hoenn and Sinnoh feel aged and boring, but still decent.
