Do you think GameFreak will use the sleeping animations from refresh for when a Pokémon falls asleep in switch game? I hope so much.

Isn't how weird how Game Freak puts the recources in the game the could also perfectly used for multiple purposes but never takes advantage of this? So many possibilites with the models and unused animations

These were great. I would be fine with a new Pokemon game paring its dex down to 200-300 if every mon can have a better, wider range of animation, with smoother transitions and more believable attacks in battles.

because attack animations are still performed, which wouldn't be possible with the recumbent sleeping animations. Unless they showed the laying down models stand up with their eyes still closed to perform the attack animation, and then had them lay back down, but that would just add unnecessary time to the battles.

Also pokemon KO animations start with pokemon in their standing stance, so if a sleeping rockruff got KO'd it would have to stand up and then fall back down into its fainting animation

It is implied that the Sleep status is pretty different from normal, actual Sleep. More noticeable when healing a pokemon from Sleep status in Refresh.

Pokemon in Refresh can be either in the sleeping pose when you enter refresh (i.e. the one in the OP), or they can fall asleep standing up due to boredom if you don't interact with them for a while. That Zeraora pose is the latter, not the actual unique sleeping animation.

They did go all out. Those sleeping animations are new to this gen. They weren't in XY. But using them in battle would add too much work. Come to think of it, they'd also need animations for being hit and fainting from the sleeping position. It just wouldn't be worth it. I'm surprised they even made this for Pokemon Refresh to begin with. It's a nice touch, but that was a lot of work for something that isn't seen very often.

Know what has always bothered me? How some flying Pokémon are ALWAYS in the air. Xatu looks much better when it’s just standing there. Sure, it’s a flying type, but why does it have to be constantly in the air?

The problem is they have diffrent base poses.
I also hate how they haven't thought about using ALL animations in Amie/Battle for maximum.

Reminder: Dedene has 23 diffrent animations in game while many pokemon has only 3-5 max.

Remember when we have leaks that those battles were made for more adult players because complexity (You could use certain moves only when over/under opponent) and own meta?

Sky Battles were great idea (same with Water-based battles would be), but as usual they failed to expectations.

If you want to see it, you'd wander around with one in your party then check refresh. The sleeping animation is one of the "entry poses" that they have sometimes, such as facing away from you or spacing out.

Amie really pissed me off with how none of the pokemon I actually use ever get animations. Anything besides the designated waifu-mons are lucky to get anything beyond a single static pose.

Hypermuscle fanart is disgusting, but a wrestler Pokemon being muscular in the official design isn't really that tall of an order. I get that the chest is supposed to look like a wrestler's outfit, but it makes Incineroar's body look like a lump of play-doh, and the arms suffer similarly. It's not like this gen doesn't have a muscular looking Pokemon either, liquid sacs as they may be.
