Pokemon has a workflow that's been consistent and predictable for decades, they always know when the next game will be out and behind work long before then. They also don't regularly reinvent the series, they can rely on turn base battles and existing pokemon and mechanics to grant a solid foundation even if the new material is shaky or outright bad.
