The Sevii Islands always felt like a mediocre fangame to me. Also most of the music was butchered and really didn't use the GBA's sound well. A minor gripe as well, it feels like they were scared to actually change anything significant. It's literally the same game with a slight colour and sound change and the addition of the Gen 3 mechanics, and that's literally it, until the Sevii Islands.

They're good games but I wouldn't say they're amazingly good.

Personally, my only complaints are

It's decent compared to the last two gens but it's hardly amazing. The only Pokemon game with good post game is GSC/HGSS, but that's partly because the main-game is incredibly barebones and it needed the post-game to feel complete.

Every Pokemon game is replayable. You can argue that the later games are more replayable since they have more Pokemon to choose from.

They're good games and I don't think anyone hates them. I'd say they're the best entry point in the series for a new player, seeing as they're remakes of the original games. But I don't think they're the pinnacle of the series.

Interesting, IMO 3rd gen is the peak aesthetic of the series. 1st and 2nd were obviously very limited, 4th and 5th gen were pig disgusting with the half 2D half 3D shit, and 6th and 7th are finally starting to look alright in 3D but still a ways to go. 3rd gen was when the crisp 2D art was at its best with no crude 3D to ruin the image.

Listening to every /vp/oreon is a mistake.

FRLG are good games. Added colour and nice spritework make even boring segments (like Pokemon Tower and Silph Co.) bearable. Sevii Islands are amazing (for few reasons I don't feel like listing now).Regarding TMs: I miss early Earthquake from Saffron and easy Rock Slide + Ice Beam from Celadon.

Replayability comes from region itself to be honest. Kanto Pokedex is amazing and most of the dex is available before getting 5th badge.

RSE has the worst spritework excluding infamous Green/Red/Blue one. The gameplay is ass after Mosdeep. 3 water HMs are a pain in the ass (at least in second generation you didn't need to use Whirlpool more than once). Also, Pokemon's movepools and available TMs are bad.

The onlye thing I don't like it's I can't play the game with pokemon from RSE or Johto.

Can you give me some examples of bad sprite works? Because I love how Gen 3 looks like. Are you talking about the colors or what? Won't argue about HMs, they were a pain. Except for dive. I personally love diving in Pokémon. Won't argue about movepools or TMs either since I don't play pokémon for the battles or competitive shit.

Have some examples, famalam:
Gen 1 Pokemon: Golbat, Bellsprout, Drowzee, Weezing, Lapras
Gen 2 Pokemon: Feraligatr, Yanma, Sneasel, Ursaring, Swinub, Houndoom, Tyranitar, Lugia
Gen 3 Pokemon: Swampert, Walrein, Illumise
Some Pokemon have weird poses (Tyranitar), flat look (Golbat), bad colouring (Sneasel) and some are just plain fucked up (Drowzee, Ursaring, Lugia). In general, RSE sprites are neither as lively as previous ones nor as sharp as later ones, in my opinion.

Hardly. The battle facilities was bad. No good place to grind levels cept E4. (Bonus points for failing to create a decent area with lots of trainers to fully utilise VS Seeker). Sevii Islands feels empty from 4 and above. Some Islands are lacking anything worthwile; empty Unown crypts and long empty water routes. For some fucked up reason, breeding mechanics from Emerald wasnt in FRLG.(Did Emerald come out later than FRLG? Someone update me on this). Also, 'Return of Team Rocket 1.5' is lackluster to put it kindly. Maybe other problem I forgot to mention.

All Pokemon games are replayable, son. Solely if not to play the game with different teams.
However, I fully endorse Gen 3 as a good starting point to play Pokemon.

I think they're alright. I think that if I wanted the Kanto games though, I would stick to regular Red and Green because they're concise and get the job done. FRLG additions are cool, but they are effectively fluff. Not enough is done with the games to make them feel like a love letter like HGSS either. I think that the Sevii Islands were a cool idea. Having to go to the first three islands around the seventh badge seemed like filler more than anything, but had they saved all the islands for the post-game, that would have been some pretty cool post-game content.

I'd say that the music is probably better than your typical GBA Pokémon fare for the sole reason that they make use of the original chiptunes in the melodies as part of the soundfont and the GBA sound chip handles that better than trying to recreate actual instruments. Take the Mega Man Battle Network series as games that made the best use of the GBA sound chip.

I'll agree with this as well. They're a little too flat and don't leave much to the imagination. I don't exactly understand why they gave Red a more washed-out look with a salmon-colored hat and vest and light blue worn jeans, but it could have been a hardware thing.

This was bullshit if you were raising a zubat/golbat. Every level up by the time you get to celadon will cut to the evolution screen then say nothing happened for the rest of the game.

FRLG sucks shit. I discovered this back in 2004 when they were released. Kanto blows. The blocky artstyle coming off of the smoothness of Hoenn sucked shit. Then there's are the features that were in R/S that didn't show up in FRLG becase muh purity. The icing on the shit cake was being denied Gen 2'volutions pre-National Dex.

It isn't even like there is anything in the game that can teach you how to read brail. It reminds me of the old edutainment games that would give you hints to look something up in an encyclopedia, but this puzzle didn't even do that. It was just a bunch if dots.
